

He was a native of Georgia and had been a resident of Sulphur for 47 years. Joe was a graduate of Sulphur High School where he played football and ran track, winning several awards. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post #179 in Sulphur. He enjoyed fishing, working, bar-b-queing, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Ann Meche; children, Billy Joe Meche and wife, Carolyn, Joey Adam Meche, Regina Meche, and Christy Meche, all of Sulphur; his siblings, Kenneth Meche, David Meche, Mark Meche, and Carol Albarado, all of Sulphur, Betty Sartin of Bell City, and Donna Gore of Cataula, Georgia; twenty-two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Meche; his father, Elton Joseph Meche Sr; and a brother, Michael Meche.
A Celebration of Joe's life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Jody Barrilleaux - Celebrant. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly.
