

He was a native of Bellwood, Louisiana, and had been a resident of Sulphur for 70 years. Emery was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and received various medals such as Asiatic-Pacific Theater, Good Conduct Medal, Soldier's Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Victory Medal. He was a charter member and deacon of Houston River Baptist Church and served with the Louisiana Baptist Disaster Relief. He retired from Cities Service in Sulphur in 1984 after over 35 years of service.
Survivors include his son, Paul Emery Montgomery and wife, Lisa of Sulphur; two daughters, Melissa Toniette and husband James of Sulphur, and Janet Gauntt and husband, Randy of Natchitoches; step daughter, Nan Puzzanchera and husband, Phillip of Fort Myers, Florida; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Lizzie Mae Ballard Montgomery; second wife Nannie Ruth Montgomery; two sisters; and three brothers.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, in Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Marthaville. The Rev. Ray Dyess will officiate. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Marthaville. Visitation will be held in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home from 3-8 p.m. Sunday and will resume in the church on Monday at 9 a.m. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
