

She was a native of Church Point and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1946. She was a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Ethel and her husband, Milton owned and operated Elkins and Leger Slaughterhouse and Meat Market, Ethel's Beauty Shop, and later purchased La Caffeur Beauty Salon.
Survivors include one son, Donald Elkins and wife, Patricia of Carlyss; two daughters, Brenda Delino, and Sandra Fontenot and husband, Jerry, all of Sulphur; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Milton Elkins; her parents, Marscelan and Lucy Leger; two brothers, Murphy and Ferdie Leger; and a great-granddaughter, Julianna Dawn Delino.
Her funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 6, in Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Winiarski officiated. Burial was in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation was held from 3-8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. in the funeral home and continued from 8:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Pallbearers were Jerry Fontenot, Jammie Benoit, Johnell Benoit, David Elkins, Cade Delino, and Kenny Hebert. The family would like to thank Dr. Jason Ramm, Dr. Garret Ryder, WCCH, and the staff of WCCH Home Health, especially Angela Granger, RN, for their excellent care of Ethel.
