

She was born in DeQuincy and moved to Sulphur at the age of six years old. Evelyn was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur where she served as a nursery worker for 25 years. She enjoyed cooking and had entered several cooking competitions for her special recipes. She had become famous for her deviled eggs recipe.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Evelyn Wing Letell and husband, Ronald of Westlake; and four siblings, Lester Walton of Carlyss, Peggy Miller of Lake Charles, and Brenda Williams and Doris Trosclair, both of Sulphur. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hersal Wing; and two siblings, Earl Walton and Linda Johnson.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 10, in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Susil Fernando and Dr. David Holder will officiate. The family would like to thank the staffs of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, Cornerstone Hospital, and The Guardian House as well as Dr. Maureen Lannan, Dr. Brian Gamborg, and Dr. Jason Ramm for the excellent care of Mrs. Wing. They would like to also thank Father Susil Fernando, Dr. David Holder, Margaret L. Williams, and First Baptist Church of Sulphur.
