

She was a native of Easton and has lived in Sulphur since childhood. Mrs. Stafford was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where she served as a lay minister until her illness. She received her B.S. degree in Nursing from Northwestern State University and worked at St. Patrick's Hospital for many years before becoming a private duty nurse. She adored her granddaughters and spending time with family. Fabia was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, helping others and loved animals.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, John Stafford; daughter, Kelley Stafford Smith and husband Bryan; and two granddaughters, Kathryn and Elizabeth Smith all of Sulphur. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Elda Gotreau.
Her funeral service will be at 3 p.m Monday, May 27, 2013 in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Deacon Patrick Lapoint will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service with a Rosary at 1 p.m.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
