Fred Joesph Grigsby, age 81, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. Fred was born September 15, 1940 in Sulphur, Louisiana to Fred and Mildred Grigsby.

Fred was raised in the Catholic Faith and had attended Grace Baptist Church for the past several years. He was Captain of the Gum Cove Ferry in Calcasieu Parish for many years.

Fred was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine Grigsby, a daughter, Katherine Swire, parents, Fred and Mildred Grigsby, sisters, Helen Broussard and Ilene Dunn, and a brother, Michael Grigsby.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Michael Grigsby and wife, Barbara of Georgia; daughter, Linda Toups and husband, David of Sulphur; daughter, Cheryl Renz of Welsh, Louisiana; son, Roland Grigsby and wife, Bobbie of Carlyss; brother, Paul Grigsby of Lake Charles; brother, Andrew Grigsby of Sulphur; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Arvin Harrell officiating. Visitation will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of funeral service at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. Burial will follow in Farquhar Cemetery.
