Gerald Joseph Ryder, 72, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. He was born to his late parents, Savue, Jr. and Lydiana Ryder on November 30, 1951 in Church Point, Louisiana. Gerald was proud of his service in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, grilling outdoors, camping, building, and spending time with his family and friends. Gerald was happy to help in any way possible. He truly was a family man.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sunny Ryder; daughters, Krista Fontenot (Kendal) of Maurice, Louisiana, Kacie Wing (Chris) of Sulphur, Louisiana, Kelly Ryder (Joe Thorpe) of Sulphur, Louisiana; three siblings, Donald Ryder (Earline) of Welsh, Louisiana, twin sister, Geraldine "Geri" LeDoux of Sulphur, Louisiana, and Linda Cunningham (Pete) of Sweeney, Texas; along with six grandchildren, Austin Roussell, Garrett Ryder, Chayce Wing, Chanler Wing, Gracie Baum, and Ricky Baum.
A Celebration of Gerald's life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 1:00 pm, with Hixson Celebrant Jody Barrilleaux officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday beginning at 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines North in Sulphur, Louisiana.
