

Harvey was a native of Lake Charles and had been a resident of Sulphur for over 70 years. He was a pipefitter/foreman who helped build the Cities Service Refinery. After it's completion, he hired on and retired with 34 years of service with the company. Many along Houston River Road remember him as "Paw Paw Kubota" for his love of tractors.
Survivors include his children, Barbara Lynd Gutierrez of Lafayette, John Harvey Dever and wife, Emilie of Breaux Bridge, Charlotte Anne Gregory of Sulphur, Mark Wayne Dever and wife, Susan of Sulphur, Joseph Dodson "Joe" Dever and wife, Cathy of Sulphur, Peter Hannan Dever and wife, Sharmyn of Friendswood, Texas, Melanie Jane Dever and Kent Duet of Baton Rouge, and Michael Snider Dever of Sulphur; honorary son, Bill Levy and wife, Norma of Sulphur; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Frances Hannan Dever; sons-in-law, Richard Gregory and Ricky Gutierrez; siblings, Ray Dever, Albert "Sonny" Dever, and Mae Elaine Cary; and two great-grandchildren, Justin Trahan and Payton Dever.

A Celebration of Harvey's Life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 9, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to American Heart Association.
