Huey was a resident of Sulphur for 66 years. He was a rice and bean farmer and heavy equipment operator. Huey was also a pickup man working with Edward Lee Kinney for the Sulphur High School Rodeo. He later worked as the Ranch Hand for Dr. Glenn Rhodes for many years and later for Casey & Jennie Finch Daigle.
Uncle Huey enjoyed working cattle, riding horses, and rounding up the cattle on his side by side with his dog, Speck. He was always known as a honest and hard working man.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Linda (Artey) Courmier of Sulphur, LA and Phyllis Naquin of Sulphur, LA; his grandchildren, Belinda Courmier, Shane Courmier, Richard Lee Chargois, Jr., Michelle Chargois; his great grandchildren, Johsie Lynn Boggan, Destiny Chargois, John Courmier, and Kaline Ann Brooks, Chance Courmier, Anson Chargois ; his great-great grandchildren, Warren, Rawsyn, Kaizleigh, and one on the way; and a host of extended family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Edna Ruth Lasha Miller; his parents, Amadie & Amelia Miller; his grandson, Bart Courmier; his siblings, Earl, Alice, Roberta, Opal, Lou, Genevieve, Dempsey, Daniel, and Joy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2022 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial and will resume on Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.
