SULPHUR - Huiet Joseph Cormier, 83, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013.

Mr. Cormier proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy for four years. He was the owner of Cormier's Auto Service for 30 years and was a member of Henning Memorial United Methodist Church. He lived for his wife, Barbara, and his family. Huiet was a loving husband, father, brother and "Poppy". He was an avid outdoorsman, and will be remembered as a fellow friend to all, for his excitement about life and his glowing personality that will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Barbara Sarver Cormier; children, Vance Cormier and his wife Donna; Shelley Theriot and her husband Mark; grandchildren, Brady Cormier, Stephanie Pender and her husband Trey, Matthew Cormier, Jillian Cormier, and Jace Theriot; great grandchildren, Bryce Pender, Harper Cormier, Kalli Pender and Eli Cormier; sisters, Wilma Fontenot, Judy Myers, Shirley Sensat and Peggy Moore; brothers, Herbert Cormier, Walter Sensat and Bobby Cormier. He is preceded in death by his father, V. A. Cormier; mother, Alma Sensat; and brother, Matthew Cormier. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 31 in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Doug Cain and Rev. Heather Leyland will officiate. The committal service will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Rev. Mark Theriot will officiate. Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday and resume Saturday at 10 a.m. until service time. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Huiet's passing. I enjoyed waiting on him as a customer when I worked at Brookshire Bros.

Barbara, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Huiet. I never realized he was the mechanic my parents, Willis & Sybil Owen, always used. Dad trusted Huiet, and that alone, says a lot about a man.
I never got use to you and Huiet not sitting in front of us at church each Sunday once he was unable to attend. I remember thinking what a nice head of hair he had and thought you and he made the cutest couple. What beautiful memories he left behind for you and your family & friends.
