Dr. James Jimmy Doyle Edmonds Jr.

He was a native of Texarkana, Texas, and lived in the Sulphur/Lake Charles area for over 30 years. Jim obtained his Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University and PhD in Physics from Cornell University in 1967. During his career, he worked for Hughs Labs, USIU, Claremont Colleges, San Diego State University, Oregon State University, Bucknell University, and Mercer University. Jim completed his career as a physics and astronomy professor at McNeese State University where he worked for 25 years. He earned the rank of Full Professor, was the author of over seventy scientific articles, and wrote a book on quantum physics. He was a member of the American Physical Society, the American Association of Physics, the Louisiana Association of Physics, and the Louisiana Academy of Sciences.

Survivors include his beautiful wife, Damary Sardina-Edmonds of Sulphur; one brother, Barry C. McClarty and wife Diane McClarty of San Diego, California; one step sister, Donna Jean (Edmonds) Carter of Whitehouse, Texas; two step brothers, Roy F. Edmonds and Woods G. Edmonds, both of Whitehouse, Texas; two daughters, Bethany Cashman and Yvonne MacNeeley with husband Seth MacNeeley, all of California; two sons, James "Jaimie" Edmonds, III with wife Leslie Edmonds and Aaron Edmonds with wife Roz Edmonds, all of California; one step daughter, Damarys "Dee Dee" Gonzalez-Rodiles with husband Douglas Wells, of Sulphur; two step sons, Jorge Gonzalez-Rodiles with wife Nicole Gonzalez-Rodiles and Alex Gonzalez-Rodiles with wife Amy Gonzalez-Rodiles, both of Sulphur; and 18 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

His memorial gathering will be Monday, May 4th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a special service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. There will be no burial services.
