

SULPHUR - James Neil "Jimmy" Provost, age 77, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at a local hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Jimmy was a native of Sulphur where he was a graduate from Sulphur High School in the Class of 1957 after which he was in the Marine Reserves. At the age of 50, Jimmy retired from Vista as a welder. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, and was a member of the Calcasieu Cajun Club and Knights of Columbus #8978.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Geneva Guidry Provost; one daughter, Becky Provost(Jolene) of Birmingham, Alabama; three brothers, Rodney Paul Provost(Diane) of Arlington, Texas; Larry Provost(Gayle), Pat Provost(Joan) all of Sulphur; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfain "Bill" and Carmelite "To-To" Provost; and a niece, Laurie Provost.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Bishop Glen Provost will officiate services. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial. Visitation will be held 3-8 p.m. on Monday with a Rosary conducted by the Knights of Columbus #8978 at 6:30 and will resume at noon until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
