Born in Monroe, James was raised in Pearland, where he graduated from Broadway Baptist School. He had lived in Sulphur for the past 35 years. James enjoyed Marvel comics and movies and especially loved caring for his dogs, Millie and Tucker.
Survivors include his mother, Alice Brooks Truett; and his son, Nicholas David Truett, both of Sulphur. He is preceded in death by his son, Tyler James Truett; and his father, James Ernest Truett.
A Celebration of James Truett's Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 1 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson's Celebrant, Jody Tyler. The family will receive friends from Noon until the time of service Monday in the funeral home.
