He was a longtime resident of Sulphur. James enjoyed fishing, working in his yard on his tractor, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Helen Vallery of Sulphur; his children, Andrew Vallery and wife, Lindsay of Sulphur, and Lauren Goodaker and husband, Thomas of Lake Charles; his step-son, Joshua Peveto of Lake Charles; his sisters, JoAnne Pulitzer of Mandeville, Pamela Vallery of Sulphur, Carolyn Robinson of Sulphur, Gordon Vallery, Jr. of Amite, and Randall Vallery of Sulphur; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon Vallery, Sr. and Audrey Faye Vallery.
A private Celebration of James life was held on Monday, October 5, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Jody Barrilleaux, Celebrant. Burial was in Mimosa Pines Cemetery North in Sulphur. Pallbearers were Marion Guiteria, Max Vallery, Tyler Young, Christen Dazet, Thomas Goodaker, Mason Fuslier, and Randy Robinson.
