

Calvin, affectionately known as "Paw Paw Ears" to his grandchildren, was a native of Cameron and had been a resident of Carlyss for nearly 60 years. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and a charter member of the Carlyss Lions Club. He enjoyed raising cattle, cooking, making sausage, drinking beer with his friends, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his children, Ricky Vallette and wife, Roxana and Jonathan Vallette and wife, Faith, all of Sulphur, Stephen Kent Vallette and wife, Ann, Matthew Vallette and wife, Della Jean, Candy Little and husband, Kim, and Tammy Vallette, all of Carlyss; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Arleen "Pookie" Vallette; his sister, Nelva Faye Newton; and his parents, A.M. and Edith "Blue Eyes" Vallette.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 25, in St. Theresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Luke Krzanowski, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
