

Jason was born and raised in Utah. After graduating high school he went to upstate New York where he started his professional jockey career racing in some of the top circuits including Belmont and Saratoga. He raced through out the US on tracks in Washington, Florida, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. He had an honorable career in the US Army National Guard. He also attended Lamar University in Orange, TX and graduated with an associate degree as a board certified LPN. Jason was a devoted father and loving husband. He was loved by all he met and will be forever missed.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Carla Tervort of Sulphur; two daughters, Tara Tervort of Sulphur, and Jessica Kirk of Canada; parents, Elden and Linda Tervort of Goshen, Utah; four step-children, Travis Lambert of Baton Rouge, Tanner Massey, Abigail Massey, and Tyler Massey all of Sulphur; four siblings, Frank Tervort and wife, Christine of Genola, Utah, Michelle Raley and husband, Marshal of Claremore, OK, Jared Tervort and Stacey of Goshen, Utah, and Michael Tervort and wife, Lacie of Spring Creek, Nevada; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel. Family will have a private burial at Indian Bayou Cemetery.
