Jeanette Guidry Cormier

Jeanette Guidry Cormier, 90, of Sulphur, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026. She was born to her late parents, Henry and Sarah Sonnier on September 2, 1936 in Church Point, Louisiana. She enjoyed gardening, word puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanette was devout in her Catholic faith. Despite her limited vision, she didn't let that stop her from enjoying life.

She is survived by her children, John Charles Guidry (Ann) of Covington, Louisiana, Susie Bares of Carlyss, Louisiana, Barry Dale Guidry of Discovery Bay, California, and Wally Guidry (Jennifer) of Sulphur, Louisiana; her step children, Michael David Cormier and Bonita Stewart; siblings, Melba Thibodeaux, Sylvia Johnson, Ramona Miller, and Kelly Sonnier; twelve grandchildren, Katrina Miller, Brandi Trahan, Karah Wilson, John Paul Guidry, Kyle Armer, Derek Guidry, Amber Seaford, Ryan Guidry, Brittney Guidry Venour, Tod Guidry, Sarah Guidry, and Shelby Rose Guidry; along with seventeen great grandchildren.

Jeanette is preceded in death by her husband of over 44 years and the father of her children, Walter Guidry. After his passing, she married Cary Cormier and they were married for nearly 20 years. She is also preceded in death by her daughter, Katherine Murrell and son-in-law, Kelvin Murrell; son-in-law, Brett Layne Bares; her parents, Henry and Sarah Sonnier; along with her siblings, Mildred Carrier, Frieda Bevers, Leroy Sonnier, and Preston Sonnier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 11:00 am, with Father Timothy Goodly and Father Ron Foshage officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, from 9:00 am until the procession to the church. Burial will be at Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss.
