

Our wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend has gone to be with her God and Saviour and to join ones who have passed before her. She died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a long hard fight.
Jeannie’s life began in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on August 18, 1935 when she was born to her parents, Ella and Harry Potter. She attended a one-room school house, Limestone Elementary, through 8th grade and attended Sand Springs High her Freshman and Sophomore years before moving to Sulphur. She was very proud of her Oklahoma heritage and practiced genealogy for years researching her family tree. She went on to Sulphur High and graduated in 1952. At the young age of 16, having skipped the 7th grade in Oklahoma.
Following high school, Jeannie graduated from Sowela Tech with a degree in Bookkeeping and Accounting after which she worked for Hemingway’s Furniture Store on their office staff. Following that, she worked for Borden’s, and for Pittsburgh Plate Glass where she was chosen as “Miss PPG”. She remained in the industrial field for the rest of her working career. She worked for Hercules, which became Himont, continuing as a Cost Accountant and Purchasing Agent until her retirement. She had been a member of Maplewood First Baptist church since 1949.
Jeannie met the love of her life, Charles “Bubba” Williams, while still in High School. They were married in 1953 and this last September celebrated 63 years of marriage. Bubba faithfully remained at her side providing loving care during a lengthy illness. She will certainly be missed.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Jody Williams; a son, Clay Williams; a sister, Betty Jo Jordan; and her so very precious grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jamie Digilormo and husband, Jason Spring, Shannon Tyndall, Gannon Williams and wife, Angelica, Colten Williams, Jenara Williams Anderson, Courtney Williams, Shavanah Whitaker and husband, Ellis, and Emma Reed. Also, Jeanie was so proud of her eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She shared her love and generosity with all of them. Jeannie was preceded in death by her parents, and a son, Kenneth Wade Williams.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 13, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Charley Watson will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Lake Charles. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until the time of service Monday in the funeral home.
