JoAnn Godare

JoAnn was born in Indiana and has resided in Sulphur for the past 47 years. She was an active member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Christian Women Fellowship, and a volunteer at Care Help. She worked as a registered nurse for West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital for 15 years. She adored shepherding to her flock of church members, assisting them with their medical needs and appointments. She enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren in their sporting endeavors and other extracurricular activities. JoAnn loved fishing and spending time with her husband and family at their Toledo Bend camp. She possessed a compassionate and loving spirit to all who knew her.

Survivors include her five children, Rick Godare and wife Chris, Cindy Cox, Lisa Hansen and husband Jack; Jody Ince and husband Tim, all of Sulphur, and Becky Stein and husband Todd of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Dustin Hansen, Clinton Cox and wife Melissa, Josh Hansen, Richard Godare and wife Kati, Ryan Godare, Jordan Stein, and Lauren Hansen; great grandchildren: Gabe, Mason, Cannon and Cameron Cox; and sister-in-law, Lee Godare. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Richard William "Dick" Godare; grandson, Kevin Cox; son-in-law, Billy Cox; brothers, Robert Buckles, Guy Buckles and Malcolm Buckles; her special family, Dr. and Mrs. Morris and Esther Fox; and their son Dr. Richard Fox.

Her funeral service will be Friday, September 27 at 2 p.m. at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Sulphur. The Rev. Kenneth Hooper will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be 4 - 8 p.m Thursday at Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1401 Argin Drive, Sulphur, LA 70663.
