JoAnn Hendry, 89, died Wednesday, April 14, 2021, in her residence.
She was a native of Baton Rouge and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1952. JoAnn was a member of Houston River Baptist Church where she attended the Mavericks Sunday School class. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Fellows office before her children were born. JoAnn enjoyed taking care of her dog, "Dude", gardening, and baking.
Survivors include her children, Tamalyn Hendry, and Duane Keith Hendry and wife, Vanessa, all of Sulphur; her grandson, Eric Hendry; her great-granddaughter, Isabella Hendry; and her beloved dog, "Dude". She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Carl W. Hendry; and her brother, Wallace Allen Shoemake.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 17, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss.
