He was a native and longtime resident of Ragley. He lived in various places around the world during his military career in the U.S. Navy. He retired after proudly serving for over 30 years. Joe enjoyed cane making, wood carving, riding and working on motorcycles, spending time with his dog, Sassy, and especially enjoyed flirting with the ladies.
Survivors include his children, John Douglas Gimnich, II and wife, Elizabeth of DeRidder, Shannon Marie Gimnich Jacks and husband, Todd of Dry Creek, and Jesse Gimnich of Habersham, Georgia; his grandchildren, Sara Gimnich, Michael Gimnich, Bo Gimnich, Wesley Gimnich, Trinity Gimnich, Destiny Gimnich, JB Gimnich, Cheyann Gimnich, Isabella Gimnich, James Richard, Anna Jacks, Samantha Hopson and Isabella Sargent; and great-grandchildren, Aften Gimnich James Essick and Ryleigh Peters. He is preceded in death by his son, Jim Gimnich; his parents, Buddy and Doris Gimnich; and his brother, John D. Gimnich, I.
A Celebration of Joe's Life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 10 in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson's Celebrant, Jody Tyler.
