He was a native of Lafayette, Indiana, was raised in Leesville, and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last thirteen years. John enjoyed working on his race car and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Karen Collins; his two children, Joshua Collins and Jessica Collins; his father, Abbot Collins; and a granddaughter, Gracelyn Hyatt, all of Sulphur. He is preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Collins; his mother, Linda Paxton Collins; and his grandparents, Austin and Jo Ann Paxton, and Willard and Florence Collins.
A Celebration of John's Life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home and will be led by Jody Barrilleaux, celebrant.
