He was a native and lifelong resident of Hackberry. Champ enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and spending time with family and friends. He retired from the Hackberry Recreation Center.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Venable of Hackberry; his daughter, Jenny "Becky" Logan and husband, Michael Sr. of Lake Charles; and three grandchildren, Mikey, Anica, and Brittany Logan. He is preceded in death by a nephew, Clyde Venable.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 8, in St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry. The Rev. Rommel Tolentino will officiate. Burial will be in New Hackberry Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mikey Logan, Anica Logan, Keith Portie, Joe Portie, Clyde Venable Jr, and Christopher Venable. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. all in the church hall, visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Friday.
