Uncle J.D. had such a commanding presence and confidence but at the same time he was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He told the best stories about all the siblings growing up. I loved listening to him. He and Aunt Emily never missed a birthday party.
When I grew up, I learned to appreciate him even more. He showed the genuine love and self sacrifice of a brother toward his sister with cancer. On numerous occasions he and others made the drive in busy Houston traffic so mom could get to MD Anderson. He made it clear that there was nothing he would not do for her. He did it all with joy. I’m so grateful to have had him I my life. He will be missed. His actions left a beautiful legacy that lives on in his children and grandchildren.

It has been such a blessing to be loved by such a caring, loving generous soul, whom I am PROUD to call my Father in law, AKA POP. He told me time and time again how much he loved me, and How much Donald and I were absolutely perfect for one another. He told me once that God put us in the same path so that we could meet. I told him I knew that to be true and that I would be forever grateful. We wanted these last two years with Pop to be the best that they could be without his beautiful bride and I think we accomplished that. I will love and cherish this man until my last breath. I will hold true to my word/promise to JD, that I would continue to take good care of his family after he left us. I love you POP. Always have and always will. Rest easy and please give my son the biggest hug for me. I LOVE YOU FOREVER
