Rev. Joseph Leonard Rountree Jr.

He was born in New Orleans on December 28, 1939, raised in Baton Rouge and retired to the League City area of Texas. Rev. Rountree served 20 United Methodist churches across the state. Locally, he served in Vinton, Cameron, and Grand Chenier. He enjoyed volunteering as chaplain also. After retiring he volunteered at Houston Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas.

Rev. Rountree is survived by his wife, Judy Schexnailder, also at The Crossings in League City, Texas; his daughter, Kelley Restemyer and husband Kurt; three grandchildren, Leah, Conrad, and Lacey of Seabrook, Texas. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph L. Rountree, Sr. and Margaret Daniel Rountree; and a sister, Katherine Phillips all of St. Amant, LA. He will be missed by many other family members, friends, and associates across the state.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 22, in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Reyn Sewell will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines South in Carlyss, LA under the direction of Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation is from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service in the chapel.
