She was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. Joyce enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening, working in her yard, cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her four children, Loretta Gentry and husband Bill of Sulphur, Okla., Dwayne McInnis and wife Suzanne of Westville, N.J., Kenny McInnis of Sulphur, and Michael McInnis and Janet Witt of Sulphur; her brother, Huey Leon Spell of Carlyss; 12 grandchildren, Brandon Weber, Russell Weber and wife Monica, Amanda Garnand and husband Jeremy, Michelle McInnis, Lucas McInnis, Brandy McInnis, Gerald W. McInnis, Nick Decou, Erin Willis and Marcus Domingue, Summer Doyle and husband David, Ethan McInnis and Jamie Wooster, and Marshall McInnis and wife Brittanie; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a host of nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet companion, ChiChi.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Gerald B. McInnis; her parents, Evans and Almedia Spell; and her siblings, Betty Koonce, Evelyn Schultz and Curtis “Bill” Spell.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Revs. H.G. McInnis and Mark Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Pallbearers will be Ethan McInnis, Marshall McInnis, David Doyle, Russell Weber, Gerald W. McInnis and Lucas McInnis. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Decou and Gary Schultz. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Heart of Hospice for their excellent care of Joyce.
