Joyce Marie Reed

A lifelong resident of Sulphur, Joyce was an active member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters over the years. She was also an active participate in C.A.R.C., Special Olympics and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW. Joyce was a devoted mother, grandmother and a Certified Foster Parent. She loved spending time with her flowers and was a member of the American Rose Socitey.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Chrystal Tompkins and husband Eddie; sons Michael Reed, Mark Reed and wife Sharon, James Reed and wife Pam and Damon Patrick Reed; seven grandchildren Celeste Jarrell and husband Dustin, Justin Reed, Ivan Reed and fiancé Amanda Allen, Courtney Kelley and husband Carl Kelley, Raleigh Reed, Matthew Tompkins and Lauren Tompkins; three great grandchildren Cullen Jarrell and Hillary Kelley and Jade Theriot; sister Sheila Ann McFarland; brothers Edward David LeJune and Robert James LeJune.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years Merlin Joseph Reed; parents David Edward and Ada LeBrun LeJune.

Her funeral will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 4, 2010 from Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church under direction of Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Father Gerry Boulanger will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be in the funeral home Tuesday from noon until 9 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm and from 8 am until 9:30 am on Wednesday.
