Judith “Judy” Ann Ashe, 85, of Sulphur, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was born to her late parents, John and Pauline Ricks on January 13, 1940 in Port Arthur, Texas. Throughout her life, music was very important to her having played the piano in a group called The Silver Strings. She was responsible for starting a Meals on Wheels chapter in Garden Oaks in Houston, Texas. Judy was the Director for the Sulphur Senior Center and was a substitute teacher in Calcasieu Parish. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, who she loved very much.
She is survived by her three children, Daniel Yzaguirre (Kim) of Lavon, Texas, Stephen Yzaguirre of Cypress, Texas, and Missy Maki (Norman) of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Lona Tramonte (Joe) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Teresa McHaffie (Harry) of Sulphur, Louisiana; along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Goodrich; sister, Paula Landry.
A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00 am with Father Timothy Goodly officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday, from 10:00 am until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at a later date at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, Louisiana.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
