

Mr. Simmons was a decorated Vietnam Veteran and retired Senior Master Sargent after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. After retirement he returned home to Sulphur and opened Simmons Hollywood Conoco on Hwy. 108 for 4 years. He also worked for Shell Oil and then was hired as a millwright for Olin Chemical and retired after 15 years of service. During his retirement he enjoyed being a "Mr. Fix-it" and traveling in his motor home. He was an avid gardener who took great pride in landscaping his yard.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Annie L. Simmons; son, Robert K. Simmons and wife, Susie of Sulphur; daughter, Katrina McCauley and husbanddKeith of Kinder; sister, Virginia Martin of Orange; twelve grandchildren- Renee Simmons, Amy Moore, Aaron Simmons, Joshua Shortridge, Ashley Todd, Natalie McCauley, Kelley Clement, Kaci McCauley, Mica McCauley, Hannah Simmons, and Bekah Simmons; and numerous great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Richard K. Simmons; daughter, Karen K. Shortridge; granddaughter, Jessica A. Shortridge, parents, Frank Joseph Simmons, Sr. and Alva Mae Kelley Simmons, and brothers, Frank Joseph Simmons, Jr. and Ronald Simmons.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Monday, September 15th in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home and resume 10 a.m. Tuesday. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 16th in the funeral home. The Rev. W. T. Darnell will officiate. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery with full military honors.
