Leo Donald Domingue, 89, of Vinton gained his wings on Thursday, March 6, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 29,1935, to Joe and Luda Domingue and was a native of Sulphur. He was a 1955 graduate of Sulphur High School. Leo was a hard worker and held many jobs over the years. These included working for Ray Stores, SW Construction and then as a Gauger/Pumper for Amoco Oil Co (Equinox) in Edgerly where he retired in 1989 after 21 years of service.
Leo loved life and everyone he met. He had a huge personality and liked to make people laugh, whether it was telling stories, cracking jokes or playing pranks on people. He enjoyed taking care of his fruit trees, garden and flowers, golfing and his never ending DIY projects around the house.
Leo was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star in Vinton. He was a faithful man and served as Song Director for French Christian Church, as well as Magnolia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 30 years, and later at Central Baptist Church.
He is now reunited with those preceding him in death, including his loving wife, Joyce Marie Domingue; son, Brian Keith Domingue; grandson, Christopher Scott Domingue; parents, Joe and Luda Domingue; stepmother, Liddie Mae Domingue; and 8 siblings, A.B. Domingue, J.B. Domingue, Elvin “Manny” Domingue, Albert Domingue, Ervin Domingue, Margaret O’Blanc, Evelina Doucet and Helen Doucet.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Donna Marie Lyons and husband, Rev. Benjamin Lyons of Vinton; son, Jeff Michael Domingue Sr. and wife, Angie of Vinton; adopted sons, Tanzy Allen Domingue and wife, Krystal of Sulphur, and Joshua Leo Domingue and wife, Lacie of Alabama; grandchildren, Kristina Hershberger and husband Brett of Idaho, June Lyons of Sulphur and fiancé Jonathan Fontenot, Jake Lyons and wife, Briana of Vinton, Chastity Domingue of Vinton, Jeff Domingue Jr. of Sulphur, Rick “Jay” Henry of Texas, Crystal Domingue and partner, Matt Propst of Sulphur, Jo Neil Irizarry and husband, Hernan Irizarry-Maldonado of California, Jamie Domingue and Julie Vincent of Texas, and Brian Domingue Jr. and wife, Trynda of Sulphur; 40 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brother, Leris "Bubba" Domingue of Sulphur; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Rebecca Braud, Southern Home Health and the nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice for their kindness and support during his last days.
Funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday, March 14, 2025 in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Robert Trahan will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday, March 13th and will resume at 9 am until the time of service Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery. Those honored to be pallbearers are: grandson, Brian Domingue Jr.; great-grandsons, Dylan Lyons and Regan Guidry; and nephews, Kenny Domingue, Joshua Berry, Daniel Berry and Mathew Berry.
