

Lester was a native of Fort Necessity, La., and had been a resident of Carlyss for over 60 years. He worked for many years with Livingston Ship Yard in Orange, Texas, and then retired with Turner Industries in 1998. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Bryan Kelley of Carlyss; his children, Brenda Phillips and husband Cordell of Marthaville, Doug Kelley and wife Rachel of DeRidder, and Doyle Kelley and wife Christine of Carlyss; his siblings, Marvin Kelley of Westlake, Joe Kelley of Texas, and Cynthia Chamberlain of Dequincy; nine grandchildren, Tabitha Smith, Tina Campbell and husband Jeremy, Tra Phillips and Lindsay, Samantha Phillips, Elizabeth Kelley, Emmett Kelley and Danielle, Emilee Kelley and Bryan, Ethen Kelley, and Bradley Kelley and Jasmine; and seven great-grandchildren, Zane Campbell, Olivia Phillips, Lukas Kelley, Conner Kelley, Hallie Kelley, Preston Kelley and Makenzie Conner.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Kelley and wife Gertie; his mother, Dollie Mae Fletcher; a granddaughter, Jessica Berwick; and a great-grandson, Daylon Phillips.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home, led by Jody Barrilleaux, Celebrant. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
