In her younger years, she loved traveling and camping with her husband and sons all over the United States. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing. Mabel was a member of the Catholic Daughters and a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary Bertrand (Mary) of Sulphur, Louisiana, Kenneth Bertrand (Jennifer) of Moss Bluff, Louisiana; one sister, Betty Veronie of Tepetate, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Michael Bertrand, Christopher Bertrand (Debbie), Heather Webb (Weston), Wyatt Bertrand, and Matthew Bertrand; along with four great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Bertrand, Jr.; her parents; along with three sisters, Brenda Bertrand, Joyce Christ, and Margie Bergeron.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 11:00 am, with Father Timothy Goodly officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 am until the procession to the church for Mass. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana.
