

Marie "Shu" Farris, age 86, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Sulphur, La. She was born in Ged, LA to parents Maurice and Mae Landry Vice. Marie graduated from Sulphur High School in 1946 and married Davis James Farris on December 27, 1948. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of LaSalette Church and a member of the Altar Society.
“Shu” was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by parents, Maurice and Mae Vice, husband, Davis Farris, son Nick G. Farris, brothers, J. E. “Tecos” Vice and Robert “Bobby” Vice, and great grandson, Payton J. Dever.
Survivors include her two daughters, Mary (Art) Little and Ann (Larry) Trahan; daughter in law, Bridget (Brandon) Mounce; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Glenn) Wilfer, Jason (Meme) Trahan, Amy (Brandon) Dever, David (Amanda) Trahan, Bobby (Jamie) Little, Heather (Jason) Williams, and Kayley (Trey) Mancuso; seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Chapel. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of service on Monday with a rosary at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason and David Trahan, Bobby Little, Glenn Wilfer, Brandon Dever, Jason Williams and Trey Mancuso.
