

Marlyss was a native of Vidor, Tx., and lived in Sulphur since 1968. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Sulphur. Marlyss was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and the American Nurses Association. She organized the Medical Explorers at West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital, and received the Silver Beaver Award from the Calcasieu Area Council for the Boy Scouts.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, R.E. "Dick" Sprigg; children, Mary Lanier and her husband, Preston, of Myakka City, Fl., Rick Sprigg and his wife, Wende, of Carlyss, Helen Sprigg Saenz and her husband, Alfonso, of Houston, Tx., and Christa O'Neal and her husband, Kevin, of Carlyss; son-in-law, Pat Krepper of Treasure Island, Fl.; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Orin and Mabel Utley; and her daughter Susan Krepper.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Trinity Lutheran Building Fund, 1400 S. Post Oak Rd, Sulphur, La. 70663.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 16, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Sulphur. The Rev. Ken Buth will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, in the funeral home, and from 9-11 a.m. Monday, in the church.
