Martha married shortly after High School to Bobby Joe Stansel, Sr. "Buzz", then moved to Orangefield, Texas where they had three children. Martha and Buzz moved to Sulphur, Louisiana in 1964 and opened Buzz's Sports Shop. She later married Terry Shaughnessy and they established Hackberry Rod and Gun,
and created the slogan “Ya shoulda been here yesterday!”
Her most favorite thing in the world was her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved life!
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, R.C. Moore; one sister, Jodie Barron, and both of her late husbands, Buzz and Terry.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her three sons, Kirk Stansel (Lanette), Guy Stansel (Pauline), and Bobby Joe Stansel, Jr., all of Hackberry, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Brett Stansel (Lindsay), Kayleigh Benoit (Skyler), Hunter Stansel (Ashley), Torri Jinks (Brandon), and Laci Stansel; along with twelve great-grandchildren, Oakley, Abigal, Miya, Haddie, Izzie, Grant, Taylie, Elsie, Finn, Marcie, Little Guy, and Harrison.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
A Celebration of Martha's life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel with Chaplin Pat Duplechian officiating.
Martha's family would like to say a special thank you to the Staff of Stonebridge, where she was known as the "Queen of Hackberry", for their wonderful care and love shown to her during her stay. Also a special thank you to the staff of Brighton Bridge Hospice for their tender loving care.
