She was our hero. She was a beloved wife, mother, teacher, caretaker, and an avid dog whisperer. Granny loved nothing more than cooking a big meal and having a family celebration.
She graduated from Palmetto High, a 12-year school. She went on to USL and received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She continued her education in the field of Special Education. She was married to Bryan Leger, Sr. for 58 years and was the love of his life.
Her family included four children, Alicia & Bryan Hackett, Kathy & David Harbison, Bryan Leger, Jr., Missy and Marc Ivey. The grandchildren include: Jonathan & Tonie’ Smith, Patrick Harbison, Lindsey Leger & Layth Wahbeh, Mary Claire & Steven French, Lyndon Leger, Austin Smith, Thomas Harbison & Mason Smith. The great-grandchildren include: Hadley Kate, Blake, Wyatt and Miller.
She leaves behind her sister, Margaret Gibson and her brother, Dennis Monteilh and wife, Joyce along with many cherished nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will resume on Saturday, December 12, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 10 a.m. in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with Fr. Michael Caraway officiating. Interment will follow at St. Catherine Mission Cemetery in Rosa, LA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mary's name may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
