

Mary was a native of Derby, England, and lived in Vinton for 63 years. She attended St Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She Served as Chaplain for American Legion Post 208 and VFW Post 9854.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas Pickett and his wife Karen of Vinton, Anthony Pickett and his wife Janice of Cypress, Texas, Nicholas Pickett of Vinton, and Kevin Pickett and his wife Sue of Vinton; daughters, Mary Frances Pickett LeJeune of Eagan, Minnesota, Barbara Gary and her husband Michael of Rowlett, Texas, and Brigid Wiggins and her husband John of Burbank, California; son-in-law Brian English of Sulphur; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Warren Gray Pickett; son Michael Pickett; daughter Clare English; and sisters Mabel Smith and Betty Marsh.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 22, at St Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. The Rev. Susil Fernando will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, all in the funeral home. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
