Mary Frances was born on April 12, 1930 to Claude Alfred Hays and Dovie Mae (Toler) Hays in Kisatchie, Louisiana. Eventually, Mary Frances and her brother, Claude, Jr. together with their parents, moved to Sulphur. She attended Sulphur High School with the class of 1948. Soon after, she married Lawrence Neal Trosclair. She and her beloved "Creach" were happily married for 69 years until his death in 2015. During their marriage, they welcomed two daughters, Linda and Julie.
As a young bride, Mary Frances worked at W.T. Burton's Store in Sulphur. After becoming a mother, she was a devoted homemaker for her family for many years. Later in life, she taught at Our Lady's and LaSalette Pre-Schools in Sulphur for 27 years. Teaching young children was her absolute joy. Her grandchildren were lucky to not only be loved by their "Maw-Maw Fran-Fran", but also to be taught by her during their pre-school years.
Along with her husband and daughters, Mary Frances was a faithful member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. There she had been an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion, an adorer of the Blessed Sacrament, and a volunteer teacher for Sunday morning Children's Church.
In their younger years, Mary Frances and Lawrence both participated in league bowling where they made many lifelong friends. They were both avid sports fans and loved football, basketball, baseball, golf, tennis- and of course, any sporting event where they could cheer on their grandchildren. Mary Frances enjoyed cooking and baking, reading, having her neighbors over for afternoon coffee, taking care of her beautiful potted plants in her yard, and could always pause to enjoy watching the birds on her feeder - especially her favorite - Cardinals.
Mary Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Dovie Hays; her husband, Lawrence Trosclair; and her brother, Claude Hays, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Linda Hewitt and husband, Sam, and Julie Breaux and husband, Billy, all of Sulphur; her grandchildren, Katelyn DuBroc and husband, Josh, Thomas Breaux, and Lauren Gilbert and husband, Tommy; step-grandson, Jason Hewitt and wife, Lisa Marie; one great-grandson, Elliott Hays DuBroc, along with one on the way, Samuel Jude Gilbert; step-great-granddaughters, Isabella Hewitt and Lilly Hewitt; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Hays.
