He was a native of Carlyss and lived in Hackberry for the last 9 years. He attended Cornerstone Baptist Church in Sulphur. Michael loved turtle hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 9 years Pam Watkins of Hackberry; son Michael Watkins and his girlfriend Regina of Sulphur; daughters Tracy Childers and her husband Joey of Hackberry and Crystal Kelly and her husband Chris of Moss Bluff; stepsons Jesse Raffield II of Sulphur and Shannon Raffield and his wife Marla of Hackberry; sisters Carolyn Ford and her husband Leonard and Sue Sue Kelly and her husband Raymond; and 12 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Ellen Watkins.
His funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Reverend Sidney Fontenot will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday in the funeral home.
