Monica, a lifelong Sulphur resident, worked at C.A.R.C. for 15 years. She participated in Special Olympics for 10 years, specializing in the sports of bowling and Bocce ball. Monica reigns as the current C.A.R.C. Mardi Gras Queen. She enjoyed doing crafts, fishing, and playing computer games.
Survivors include her mother, Rosalie Kegley of Sulphur; father, Wilton Kegley of Lake Charles; siblings, Boogie Kegley of Sulphur, Marilyn Vincent (Michael) of Sulphur, Martha Meyers of Sulphur, Mike Kegley (Gail) of Moss Bluff; Shelton Kegley (Melissa) of Sulphur, Kendall Kegley(Joyce) of Sulphur, and Cindy Freeman(Wayne) of Rayne; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brother, Leon Guidry.
Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Arvin Harrell will officiate. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South of Carlyss. Visitation will be held Friday, Noon - 9 p.m. and resume Saturday at 8 a.m. until time of service.
