Nancy Guidry, age 85, of Sulphur, Louisiana passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 8, 2021.

Nancy was born near Dermott, Arkansas on August 11, 1936, but became a Sulphur resident in her early years. She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1954 and soon after married the love of her life, Gayle “Billy” Guidry. Nancy had a business baking cakes for special occasions, supported Billy’s businesses and political service, and was actively engaged in her daughters’ lives and activities. She especially enjoyed participating in Sulphur High’s Toreadors Association.

Nancy was the true definition of a refined, classy, upstanding woman who was completely devoted to her family. Her hugs never failed to warm your heart, and her smile never failed to make another smile. She loved butterflies, fresh magnolias and gardenias from her yard, shopping, afternoon coffee with friends, and preparing holiday meals for her family. Nancy cared dearly for her Yorkies, Prissy and Sassy. Her memory will live through all the people that she touched.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 67 years Gayle “Billy” Guidry, her two daughters Leah Brame (husband Tommy) and Melanie Dulany (husband Walt). She was a loving “Maw Maw” to six granddaughters Kimberly Glasspool (husband Jeff), Kellery Barton (husband Zak), Mallory DeRouen, Mika Coates (husband Dillon), Macy Dulany, and Madison Rainwater (husband Dillan). Nancy also was a proud great grandmother to six, soon to be, seven great grandbabies.

She is preceded in death by her father Houston Sims, mother Mary Francis Smith, stepfather Macie Smith, brother Arnold Sims, and her daughter, Roxanne Gayle.

On the behalf of Nancy’s family, we would sincerely like to thank Heart of Hospice for the care and compassion they showed her in her final days.

Wonderful memories of coffee visits and lots of shopping together …. And our Mexican lunches at Casa ..We would hear about a new shipment of goodies at Victoria’s on oak and Nancy and I would jump in either her car or mine and away we would go …. We loved to check out mew shops snd we had been known to visit Dillard’s on occasion … but lately we shared phone calls to catch up ( both being a little slow on our feet, nothing to do with age you understand ) …. I will miss her until we can visit again .. Love and hugs my dear friend Nancy
