

Born September 4, 1914, in Maurice, Louisiana¸ he lived most of his life in Sulphur. A chemical engineer at Firestone, he retired in 1980 with 35 years of service. He was a founding member of Immaculate Conception Church in Maplewood where he was a lector and an extraordinary minister. He received the Companion of Honor Award. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 3015, and The Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a talented watercolorist whose art graces the walls in the homes of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends. He will be remembered most for his joy in living and his tremendous fondness for the babies of the family of every generation. This is a tremendous loss for every member of his large family.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Laurence Falcon Dartez, and his son, Robert Paul Dartez. He is survived by his children, David (Libby) Dartez of San Antonio, Texas; Carole (Jim) Chaffee of Cedar Park, Texas; Jane (Rick) Webb of Baton Rouge; (Ardis) Dartez of Katy, Texas; Joseph (Joni) Dartez of Pearl River; Mary (David) Smith of Houston, Texas; Julie (Carl) Broussard of Sulphur; Sue (David) Todd of Anchorage, Alaska; and Ellen (Benny) Deters of Lake Charles. There are 27 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. His surviving siblings are Marguerite Sparks of Houston, Texas; Ralph Dartez of Algiers; Louis (Barbara) Dartez of Houston, Texas; Francis (Wilma) Dartez of Houston, Texas; Louise Pearson of Lafayette.
Visitation was at Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday evening with a Scripture service and rosary at 6 p.m. and from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, October 5, 2011. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church in Sulphur at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Mimosa Pines in Sulphur.
