Ray was a Sulphur native who attended the New Destiny Assemblies of God Church. He was a member of the Masons. Ray was a hard working man who enjoyed country music, especially George Jones. He was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, served as Vice Commander of American Legion Post #179, and was a member of V.F.W. Post #8107.
Survivors include his sons, David Bass of Sulphur, Craig Rogers of Sulphur, and Keith Rochester and his wife Jodi, of Baton Rouge; daughter, Courtney Hutto and her companion Robert Williamson, of Westlake; 9 grandchildren; and his first wife, Judy Bass Trahan.
He is preceded in death by his wife Patty Henry Bass, and his son Ray Bass, Jr.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 28, in New Destiny Church, 4900 Hwy 27 South. The Rev. Phil Cochran will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. Saturday in the church.
