Ruth Hood Pulver, resident of Ponchatoula, LA went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 21, 2021. Ruth was born on August 22, 1922 at Cego, Texas to John William, Sr. and Nell Strawn Hood.
She graduated from high school and moved with her family to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she met and married Everett Owen Pulver from Louisiana on July 15,1942. During WW II, Ruth and her baby daughters relocated to Louisiana to stay with family while Owen shipped off to the war. After the war, the family moved to Sulphur and two sons were added. Ruth returned to school and graduated from McNeese State University in 1963. She taught for 21 years at W.W. Lewis Jr High in Sulphur, La. Ruth was devoted to her husband, family, friends, and church, First Baptist of Sulphur and later in life, First Baptist of Ponchatoula. She was well-known for her sewing, quilting, crafting, and cooking. She gifted many relatives and friends with things that she made by hand, including quilts for each of her children, grandchildren, and many others. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.
She leaves to cherish her memory; her son, Judge Russell D. Pulver (Maureen) of Fallbrook, CA and daughter, R Joyce Fogleman (Leslie) of Ponchatoula, LA, and her grandchildren, Alisa LaGroue of Ponchatoula, LA, John O. Fogleman of Port St. Lucie, FL, Larry Fogleman of Tickfaw, LA, Clayton Pulver of Round Rock, TX, Russell Pulver of Johnston, CO, Kimberly Wallace of Loveland, Co ,Travis Pulver of Noblesville, IN, Frances Ford of Oakland, CA, Mitchell Pulver of Pinellas Park, FL, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, her parents, her son Robert Owen Pulver, daughter, Rita Sue Pulver, grandchildren Clinton Pulver, Brien Dinsmore, and Jessica Pulver. Preceded also by her siblings John W. Hood, Jr. and Dorothy Hood Garner.
The family would like to thank caregivers, Mary Bridges and many from Home Instead who helped her during her last years, and North Oaks Hospice for their loving care during the last four weeks.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Gideon International.
Graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2020 in Mimosa Pines Cemetery, Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Johnny Peel will officiate.
