Shadye Lanier Paulk, 93, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025, having lived an exceedingly blessed life. Born on September 7, 1931 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Richard and Eva Paulk, Shadye was the third of four children having outlived all his siblings – his brother Jimmy Paulk, and his two sisters Vivian Paulk Trimble and Vyrtis Paulk Cox.
Shadye graduated from Buckeye High School in 1948 and answered a call to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon return, Shadye attended Louisiana State University and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Louisiana College before starting his 40-year career with PPG Industries in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Being a man of strong Christian conviction, Shadye exemplified his personal motto to “always be humble and kind.” His greatest joy in life was his family, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his cherished wife of 70 years, Coupie (Melba) Nugent Paulk; his three children: Kenny Paulk (Karen), Tammy Lynn (Louis) and Mitzi Glover and his ten grandchildren: Lee Belteau (Chris), Shane Foret (Jonathan), Chad Paulk (Holly), Trace Lynn (Megan), Jess Lynn (Brittany), Ginny Lee (Bryant), Kelly Paulk (Emily), Landry Bagwell (Joey), Kyle Paulk and Chandler Glover.
His enduring legacy includes 26 great-grandchildren: Spencer Belteau, Sutton Belteau, Shep Belteau, Sully Belteau, Pepper Belteau, Emma Foret, Raley Foret, Jonathan Foret, Clare Foret, Joseph Foret, Alyx Davis, Davis Paulk, Everitt Lynn, Harrison Lynn, Evans Lynn, Emery Lynn, Reece Lynn, Andie Lynn, Henry Lee, Kerrigan Lee, Sloane Lee, Ted Paulk, Thomas Paulk, Sophie Paulk, Carson Bagwell and Griffin Bagwell.
A Graveside Service will be held at 9:30 am at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Pastor Michael Linton and Hixson Celebrant Jody Tyler will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm in Hixson Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 26,2025. Pallbearers will be Chad Paulk, Trace Lynn, Jess Lynn, Kelly Paulk, Kyle Paulk, Jonathan Foret, Chris Belteau, Joey Bagwell and Bryant Lee.
