Terry was a veteran of the Air Force, where he served as a meteorologist for over 20 years. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Saints and the Michigan Wolverines. In his younger days, he also enjoyed bowling and baseball games. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his loved ones.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Debra Mavis; his children, Shelby Heape (Scott) of Lake Charles, James Mavis (Heather) of Sulphur, and Jaclynn Staggs of Sulphur; sisters, Vickie of Michigan and Bonnie (Jerry) of Texas; along with 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Betty.
A Celebration of Terry's life will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sulphur, Louisiana on Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 10:00am.
