Tommie was born in Orange, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss, the Knights of Columbus, and was an ACTS Retreatant. He was an artist when it came to metal work and had owned and operated his own metal shop for many years in Sulphur.
Survivors include his children, Mary Katherine Stutes Letulle and husband, Derrel of Mercedes, Texas, Tommie Lynn Stutes and wife, Carolyn of Westlake, and Dennis Stutes of Sulphur; seven grandchildren, Samantha Gibson, Steven Young, Adrienne Cottrell, David Stutes, Jessica High, Jennifer Lavergne, and Matt Sandifer; twelve great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Tommie Lou Stutes; his parents, Alcide Joseph Stutes and Cecilia Roy Stutes; and twelve siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 26 in St. Theresa Catholic Church. The Rev. Luke Krzanowski, M.S. will officiate. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Mausoleum in Sulphur. Pallbearers will be Chaun Cottrell, David Stutes, Steven Young, Paige King, Kurt Lavergne, Jessica High, Adrienne Cottrell, and Jennifer Lavergne.
