

Verda Mae Newman, 104, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. She was born to her late parents, Raymond and Laura Clement on January 30, 1921 in Iota, Louisiana. She was employed by West Brothers Clothing Store for 30 years where she was a receiving clerk. Verda Mae was a parishioner at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur, Louisiana. She was a devout Catholic and spent countless hours in Adoration. Verda Mae loved cooking, serving, and giving everything she had.
She is survived by her son, Larry Hebert (Mary) of Sulphur, Louisiana; three grandchildren, James Hebert of Sulphur, Louisiana, Rhonda Jones (Armando) of Conroe, Texas, and Debra Farris (Doug) of Sulphur, Louisiana; along with numerous great grandchildren.
Verda Mae is preceded in death by her two husbands, Truman Hebert and Marion Newman; along with her siblings, Lois Trahan, Mary Harris, and Emery Clement.
A Celebration of Verda Mae's life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with Father Hunter LaRocca officiating. Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Wednesday, at 10:00 am, with a Rosary at 12:00 pm, followed by the service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana.
