Verna was a native of Grand Chenier and lived in Sulphur since 1939. She attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Verna loved quilting, cooking, and processing shrimp for her husband. Most of all she loved raising her 4 boys.
Survivors include her sons Randy Borrel of Sulphur, and Tim Borrel and his wife Debbie of Sulphur; grandchildren, Melissa Butler, John Borrel, Todd Borrel, Derrick Borrel, Sonny Borrel, Robert Borrel, Tracy Borrel, Tene Martin, Dusty Borrel, Christy Harrell, and Mike Borrel, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wilford J. Borrel.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines South Cemetery in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Monday with a rosary at 6 p.m., and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, all in the funeral home.
