

She was a native of DeQuincy and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 11 years. She enjoyed reading her Bible and discussing the Bible with others, as well as traveling and spending time with her family. Virginia was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sulphur.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, George Mahaffey Sr. of Sulphur; four children, Frank Mahaffey of Sulphur, Laura Pooser and husband Anthony of Sulphur, George “Bubba” Mahaffey Jr. and wife Ruth of Prairieville, and Anthony Mahaffey of Spring, Texas; six grandchildren, Brandy Mahaffey, Mikey Mahaffey, Kelsey Brown, Kayla Soileau, Cullen Mahaffey and Aaron Mahaffey; and several great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by parents, George Miles Myers and Ethel Craft Myers; and her sisters, Opal Perkins and Frankie Streetman.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 857 Sweeney Lane in Sulphur. Brother Ronald Young will officiate. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
